Beads Of Clay Small Kiln Survey

Before>New .....................................
After> much loved ......................................
has featured my Little Tiny Skutt kilns(Ks609 Manual) this week on the Small Kiln Survey.
This is a very basic kiln that I've found stands up to just about anything you can do to it.
Interior space 11"x9" is very versatile, quick to fill and fast firing, it's perfect for smaller pieces like beads but also works well for vases and functional ware too.

It's very affordable, around $700. I purchased the first kiln in the Northwest and moved it to Texas 10yrs ago..it's still working great and I've kept it in constant use, Rakuing out of it 3x's a week for the last decade..the only thing I've done to it was new plug and re staple the elements which had sagged a bit over the years..still works great for glazing.

I liked it so much that I purchased a second one from the local clay supply company..The Ceramic Store,Inc.. just noticed that the American Ceramic Supply Company in Fort Worth,Texas has a great sale on this kiln( $100 savings) until Feb 1st and this little kiln can be shipped UPS..ohoh..maybe I need a 3rd Little Tiny.

How great that you added to our BOC post by your own post about your kilns. Thanks so much. Love all your comments about the kiln. Makes me want one. And thanks for the up to date info about the sale on one.

Are you planning on being featured as the next Kiln Hoarder? :) Yay for a new kiln on the way!

Pretty cool about rakuing in it. I may do that someday but not sure if I'd have to move to outside first. you keep yours out right? I too changed the plug for something bigger and that didn't heat up like the original. One more question..... do you do continuous rakuing? one after the other in the same kiln? Thank you.

And your work is gorgeous!

Lucky you, my first Skutt was a beat-up garage sale wreck with the three switches that lasted through two total element replacements but blew its main frame right before Showcase one year and I succumbed to computerized and then was sorry I hadn't switched earlier.
