Where Did Today Go?

The answer to that one... I was dealing with my neighbor who will be 93 in 2 weeks .
Mondays Meals on Wheels bag was still hanging on his door ..ohoh...
when today's delivery arrived i beetled down there and we pounded on the door and i yelled( i can do that real loud) but he did not respond..
which set about flurry of calls , by me,to see if anyone could come check on him..some friend or family member.
He is already in the APS system..the SS worker came last Thurs ,so figured she was the person to call...but she was not answering, didn't call back about this ,ever!.. after many calls, to all sorts of people, i finally had to resort to calling the non -emergency police number...
They were amazingly wonderful thru it all...
The Police were able to get into the house and discovered my neighbor had fallen , couldn't get up...for 2 days without food or water..isn't that the worst thing..EMS was called and he is now in the Hospital..
I began calling APS at 9am..the MOW guy arrived at 11:20, then the police and Ems after that... I did not get back to my packing for UPS until almost 2pm..
Some orders got mailed out..however, not much else was done on my long list of to do work things..but this was so much more important...
Everyone is so busy these days..every minute filled with our own duties.. ..
I am truly glad , this time, i was a bit nosey and did not just shrug this off when i realized something did not look right.... don't we usually think to ourselves, "oh i guess it will be ok"...and continue on with our day.
So..for all my accounts..this stuff is why i am late mailing my orders...ya

for what you did, those orders can surely wait... i am so glad that you listened to your gut and investigated... my great grandmother fell once and was on the floor for over a day as well... he was lucky to have you today... and i hope he didn't break anything...
your day was spent doing the most honorable work there is nan, you can go to bed knowing that tonight...

wow! how sad that is! I think maybe he should have one of the neighbors keep a key to his house in case something like that every happened again. Poor guy! YOu were so great to double check on him!
