The Bead Soup Party reveal is today.
Many thanks to Lori Anderson of Pretty Things http://lorianderson.blogspot.com/ for hatching this idea and the work it took to put it all together. I was partnered with Marianna of>http://www.stargirlshop.blogspot.com/ who sent a surprise packet for my bead soup mix.
There was a fabulous lampwork glass focal and charming floral antiqued brass toggle clasp along with a nice assortment of coordinating beads .
I reworked this piece several times ..there were so many nice options.
I made a necklace with her focal on the side balancing the beautiful clasp,
added a few ceramic beads that came out of the kiln this week, which really took the design in a different direction.
There were some interesting flower spacers , i used one to cap a plum glass rondelle..
I decided to use some brown leather round cording at the back to keep the clasp at the side and prevent the necklace from sliding around. Also handforged 2 brass links for the leather connection.
This necklace will look great with sweaters for this winter and then it will wear great withT-shirts and jeans this summer..
I am wearing this today..love it .

Fun necklace with a clever use of leather and chain.

I would love to wear that! It is a great blend of elements and the leather is the perfect ending.
So colorful and yet earthy. Great design.
What a lovely piece! Nice job!
I love the leather & chain together, the purple is just the right little 'pop'
Very nice design. Hope you enjoy wearing it.
Great job. Love the design.
Loving the earthy tones in this, and the casual balance that the leather adds (not to mention comfort!). Nice work!

It so simple and so beautiful, I love the use of the leather cording as well.
This is so wearable. You did an amazing job. Is that leather cording at the back? I really like the look of adding it at the back. Sometimes I find that necklaces with too much chain and beads at the back are too uncomfortable to wear. This is awesome!
This is beautiful! I love ALL these beads! The colors are amazing together - the green with the little periwinkel...!!! YUMM-O I like how you incorporate the leather cord as well. Very lovely design. Enjoy wearing this!!!
i love how you kept it all so earthy... i think ceramic lends itself to that, but you really nailed it..
Love your necklace and how you composed all the elements!
OH, I love this piece! Did you say you are new to beading?!?! Your kidding, right? Well, it looks like you're a pro from here! This is wonderful! I love the mix of elements you put together here. Love all the interest and textures. I also love the earthy, organic feel!

IT GOT ME...now i love it.
What a fabulous necklace you designed with your bead soup. I love it!
This is quite a switch from your original design and I love it!
Love the mix of colors and the funky design would be a treat to wear!
I do like the redesign best! And I can see this as season spanning. That is the best sort of jewelry. Thanks for the heaping serving of bead soup. If you haven't already, do come by and taste some of mine!
Enjoy the day! Erin
What a beautiful necklace!! Love the colors and the way you added the leather in the back... I would wear this one proudly in a heartbeat!!

I love the combination of leather and chain. A great necklace , and I too prefer the re-make!
Nice job. I appreciate that you showed us your first design and the final. It really grew and I think you had just the right instincts in how you changed it. I am going to mention your giveaway on my blog. Check it out!
